Supports to Practitioners
PRACTITIONER TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (PT)
The program consists of ten modules which ensure adult learners have access to well trained, certified practitioners who understand the adult learning process and can use appropriate teaching methodologies that address learning barriers. Six practitioners were certified within the Practitioner Training and Certification Program.
Reviews of our Practitioner Training:
"My approach to teaching has certainly changed as a result of the Practitioner Training program. I now incorporate a lot of new techniques that I have learned in the program."
"The Practitioner Training Program has allowed me to reflect on my own teaching practices and the needs of my students, and it's helped all of us learn."
WEBINAR WEDNESDAYS
The PD Conference was cancelled because of concerns around COVID-19.
LNS and Dept of Labour and Advanced Education offered Webinar Wednesdays, a series of seven webinars. We had good attendance for the webinars and received many positive comments about them:
Inclusive Leadership: Presented by Brenda Landry
"I thought Brenda's session was excellent. I definitely see some areas for improvement in my communications."Nurturing Resilience Through a Strong Community: Presented by Michael Ungar
"This was a most informative and engaging session. Brenda is a knowledgeable speaker."
"Great presenter; he speaks in plain language, gave wonderful examples, and answered questions very well. An excellent presentation; great pace and examples. I appreciated the questions and answers. Great job everyone."A Blended Approach to Learning: Presented by Courtney MacMullin
"Well done! I know there are some definite challenges when changing from a face-to-face format and this went so smoothly - you made it look easy :)"Enhancing Equity Through Access to Literacy Programs: Presented by Wanda Thomas Bernard
"This webinar is an important conversation. How to act in the face of systemic inequality."Moving On Up - an Online or Blended Learning Option Aligned with NSSAL Curriculum Outcomes: Presented by Marcia Franklin
"Impressed with Moving On Up Program and the ease in which it can be used. Great informative webinar."Literacy and Oral Cultures: Presented by Stephen Augustine
"This was a wonderful presentation because it was so authentic. Mr. Augustine was able to speak easily about historic events without evidence of notes, and his story was compelling. This may be a legacy of the oral tradition of the Mi'kmaq people, and a reminder that literacy can be defined in many ways."Everyday Resiliency in Ever-Changing Times: Presented by Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe
"This was a fantastic webinar! So motivational. I feel like we need more things like this, not only to help our learners but to help us, so that we can better help them!"
