Keeping Younger Students Engaged

Baseline:
  • Drop outs from September to December (data collected from previous three years attendance record)

Timeline:
  • September to December

Criteria for Success:
  • Quantitative - Less drop outs (25%)
  • Qualitative - More engaged (measured through journals)
    Taking more responsibility for future

Management:
  1. enhance intake interview
  2. 1/2 hour a week class time
    • goal setting
    • career research/presentation
    • journals
  3. Workshop on learning styles and study habits facilitated by outside professionals (twice a year)

Permission :
  • A formal permission (release) of journals for use in research
    This will be signed at end of research

Data collections techniques:
  • Attendance records (daily)
  • Personal interviews (intake)
  • Exit questionnaire (Dec)
  • Journals (monthly)
  • Journal (instructor)
